Caringbah is located 24 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD and is a large suburb which is often divided into 3 areas - Caringbah, North Caringbah and South Caringbah.
Caringbah features a mixture of residential, commercial and industrial areas. The main shopping centre is located close to Caringbah railway station and is centred on the intersections of President Avenue, the Kingsway and Port Hacking Road South. There are several specialty shops, cafes, restaurants, plus Woolworths, Coles and Franklins supermarkets. There are also two small neighbourhood shopping strips on Port Hacking Road South plus another on Cawarra Road. Caringbah is home to the public district Sutherland Hospital and Kareena Private Hospital on President Avenue. There is a public boat ramp in Water Street at the head of Burraneer Bay. Other amenities include Caringbah Library, Caringbah Leisure Centre Swimming Pool, YMCA and the sporting fields are John Dwyer Oval and Glenn McGrath Oval.
South Caringbah fronts a number of bays and inlets including Burraneer Bay, Yowie Bay, Neils Inlet and Great Turriell Bay. Housing ranges from affordable homes, units, villas and townhouses to luxury homes and waterfronts.
